Cocaine Mortgage performed their live 2+ hour Homecoming set for Big Meadow Sessions in Harrisonburg, VA in October 2011 to a sold out crowd. This video is a montage of the night, accompanied by an audio track (created by CoMo) that is a short compilation of some of the songs they played…

I think it’s about time I let you in on a little secret. For the past year, I’ve been working on what will be the very first RAC album. Nope, not remixes. Completely original material.
I’ve asked friends/artists I love to sing over my songs and the response has been phenomenal. Unfortunately, I…

Once again my favorite DJ collective chooses to reanimate a song I personally love. I have the strong inclination these guys and I are kindred musical spirits. I’m always astounded by their song selection and am rarely disappointed by their remixes. Here is their new remix of one of my all-time favorite songs, and coincidentally the first song I actually remember hearing as a youngster. It’s simple but intricate and provides a fresh approach to a bonafide electro classic.

My favorite mashers are at it again, this time mashing what’s arguably the best song of 2011 with the smooth-as-peanut-butter Mayer Hawthorne.
Dig in.

It seems the two-week period in which the internet music who’s-whos and blogger extraordinaires post what they think are the supreme examples of musicianship from the last year has passed. The ball drop of the New Year has cleaned our slates and prepared us for another year of life-changing and be-all-end-all albums which will change music forever or revert it back to what it once was.
However, I took a really long time to compile and order my list, so here’s one more with my favorite albums of 2011. It likely makes more sense to post after the year is over anyway. (Several of these albums were released in December and needed time to gestate.)
To me, each year continues to improve as the amount of music being released grows exponentially. I only have time to listen to so many albums, so I’m sure I’ll find more 2011 albums which populate my playlists in 2012.
I’ve decided to forego descriptions in an effort to allow for unbiased and clean-palated listening.
